I cannot begin to tell you how uncomfortable it is getting for me. Jimmy has to help me off the floor, out of the bed, into the car. I think he looks at it like his workout for the day with all the lifting and tugging. This weekend we will all get a break as KA and Dada go to Richmond without Mama. It's my last hurrah without kids or husband. Any suggestions on what I should do with all that wonderful alone time?

Eve takes a bite

Kendall Avery
As you may recall several months ago we were very excited because Kendall's very first teeth popped through on the bottom. KA is a pretty late bloomer in the tooth department, so that helped to ease our worried. Ealier this month at a doctor's visit we asked when the rest would start to show and were told that the top ones could be seen and should be coming in soon. But you can't feel them through the gums three weeks later, so who knows.

Anywhoo...none of this seems to phase little Miss KA. I cannot recall a food that she wasn't able to gum and enjoy. This weekend I was trying to "feed" JellyBean an apple. KA saw me and said "apple" reaching for it. I mean how can you say no to that? But how the heck was she going to bite it with only two bottom teeth?

See for yourself...

Is it in the genes?

Kendall Avery
The other day KA was interested in one of her stuff animals. However each time she approached it to pick it up, she would come to me crying. I just couldn't figure out the problem, so I got up to take a look. Turns out there was a tiny spider (teensy weensy) crawling near the toy. Once I got rid of the spider KA grabbed her stuffed giraffe and was pleased as punch.

Anyone who knows me knows that I hate spiders. Kendall had never seen a real, live spider until this day...so why would she be scared or upset by it? I guess it's just my legacy.

Making Comments

Hello!

I know so many of you look forward to catching up through this blog. It actually has another purpose. One day I hope to share with Kendall and JellyBean so they have a diary of their progress. It would be so nice if there were comments from family and friends that they could read as well.

Please let me know if you are having trouble making comments. Send me an email or mention next time we talk. Thanks!

JellyBean hits the last trimester

JellyBean

This week JB left behind the 2nd trimester and entered the 3rd and final leg of the journey at 7 months. Today, JB had another check-up and is doing wonderfully. Heartbeat is strong and lots and lots of kicking that you can see and feel from the outside.

Because JB's delivery will be scheduled, I got a sense of just when we can expect him or her. Please block the following date on your calendar: Tuesday, May 19, 2009. In the meantime, here's JB from the outside at 6 months.

Sliding into home

Kendall Avery

After last weekend's gymnastics experience and because KA has taking a liking to climbing under the barstools in the kitchen, we thought it might be time to get her something fun to climb on. Really our motivation came after several nights where she kept waking up in the middle of the night and we realized that she needed more activity to wear her out by bed time.

So after work Dada and Mama purchased a playset so massive that there is no hope of ever reclaiming our dining room. It was designed for ages 2-5. As you might expect, Kendall mastered the ladder and slide within 30 minutes...right before bedtime. And as we hoped...she slept through the night...almost!

It's Snow or Never

Kendall Avery

On Monday of this week, we were dumped on with more than 5 inches of snow -- the first significant snowfall of the entire season. Work was closed and although it was cold, we decided that we couldn't let KA miss her first opportunity to experience "snow". As soon as she awoke, Grams took her to her bedroom window and showed her that snow had arrived.

Then once downstairs she went straight to the front door...pointing to herself and then to the door. She really wanted to go out. Around midday we bundled her up, made makeshift boots out of plastic baggies and headed outside to "help" Dada shovel the driveway.

So...what did she think of the snow?

I am sure she would say it was fun until it blew in her face and then she fell face first into the snow. Then, she was not very impressed.

At any rate the snow didn't hang around for very long and this weekend she will be out and about in 70 degree weather that we are expecting.

Dominque Dawes ain't got nothing on me!

Kendall Avery

Last weekend, KA went to a gymnastics facility where she met up with her cousins Kamari (age 2) and Kaden (age 17 mos)...these are Jamie's (Son's) sons. They were having a program that included children in Kendall's age range. It was a wonderful facility with all types of equipment for climbing and swinging and jumping. As soon as KA's feet hit the mat she was off and running...and so were me and Grams. You would have thought KA was a 16 year-old gymnast in a 17-month old's body...kinda like the Chinese gymnasts at the Olympics. She wasn't afraid of anything and tackled everything.

Everyone was toast way before the 1-hr program ended. And boy did KA sleep good that night. Or else the rest of us were so exhausted that we never heard her crying...oh well!

If the shoe fits...she ain't gonna quit

Kendall Avery

Kendall has discovered what will most women know will become her lifelong true love...shoes! She seeks out shoes, boots, slippers...anything she can slip her feet into and takes them for a spin. And she really can walk in all types of shoes...even ones with heels.
