Petting Zoo

Kendall Avery

The petting zoo came to visit Kendall's daycare. Kendall got a chance to meet in person all the animals she's learned about in her books and songs. She was a little frightened of most things, but still very curious.

Father's Day Weekend

Kendall and her Dada got off to a great start on Saturday of Father's Day weekend by going together to Splash Park. Kendall has had real issues with water in her face (each week we go through heck trying to wash her hair). So this was really her first exposure to lots of water. It's a fun place where water randomly shoots up from the ground like a fountain. I am not sure what she loved more...the water or the ice cream cone Dada got her afterwards.

On Sunday, Dada received his gifts including his first handmade card from Kendall. Later, the Maryland Saunders met up with the Virginia Saunders in Washington, D.C. We had dinner with family outside at Sequoia's near the waterfront. I hope the fathers will remember the day with fond memories.

Leaps & Bounds

Savannah Reese

I can't believe there was a time only a few weeks ago, when I was worried that Savannah wasn't going to regain her birth weight after leaving the hospital. Now, she's growing wonderfully and is nearly outgrowing all the newborn clothes and diapers. The last time we were at the docs she was up to 8lbs. 12 oz. -- more than a pound over the past month.

During this first year, each month on her birthday...just like I did with Kendall...I will take a picture of her with the panda bear so we can watch her grow. This June, Savannah celebrated her first month along with her Gram's birthday.

Kendall & Daddy Time: Gymnastics

Kendall Avery
Kendall and her Daddy spent some fun, quality time on over the past 10 weeks. They would get up each Saturday morning and attend Funfit at the local community center with other toddlers and their parents. This is an hour-long program where toddlers run, work on their gross motor skills, use musical instruments and sing. At the end of the program, Kendall would get a stamp on each hand...this was probably the highlight of the program for her.

As her Daddy puts it, the program was probably more of a workout for him then for her, as we are learning it takes Kendall awhile to warm up to social situations. He would often have to carry her around while the other kids were running around. However, there were times when she was really into it as these pictures show.

Big Sister Kendall

Kendall & Savannah

Kendall loves, loves, LOVES her little sister! It's a wonderful thing to see. Kendall came to visit Savannah a couple of hours after she was born. She couldn't wait to hold her and has been that way ever since. Every morning when she wakes up...it's "baby". When she gets home from school...it's "baby". She always wants to hold her (never giving up her special fingers to hold her properly) and give her kisses. And when she's not calling her "baby" she calls her "Nanna". She likes to wipe the bubbles from Savannah's mouth. She likes to hold the bottle. She loves to point out her eyes, ears, nose and mouth. And she loves to take the pacifier out of Savannah's mouth and laugh when the baby cries.
