Can Your Daddy Do This?

This past weekend the whole family packed up the car to run some errands. It was really very cold and the zipper on KA's winter coat kept breaking. Went to Kohl's...no winter coats left. Went to Circuit City to check out their going out of business "sale"...whatever...not impressed. Anyway KA was way past naptime and hungry...you get where I am going with this. She was in what I call "snake" mode. Where kids somehow turn their body into a snake and slither out of your hands, stroller, everything so that you can't even pick them up. Jimmy and I were exhausted in less than an hour.

On our way to the next errand, I decided she needed a diaper change. But (as most of you know) I am pretty funny about dirty restrooms and couldn't think of one place I would feel comfortable changing her. That's when Dada came up with the brilliant idea to change her in the car...AND he volunteered to do it! Talk about being impressed! Jim tackled Kendall and changed her in the backseat, right on his lap.

I think we were all relieved it wasn't a poopey. You go Big Daddy!

The Hamper

Each night as we dress Kendall for bed, we take her dirty clothes and toss them on the floor. It's necessary because she's on the changing table and we figure we will get them into the hamper once we are done.

Well, I was recently surprised to learn that Kendall can and wants to put her dirty clothes in the hamper...all by herself. All I have to do is ask her! It's a wonderful thing. She picks up each piece of clothing--one at a time--and carries it to the hamper. And then she closes the closet door. Who knew? Now if only I could get her to wash the dishes...

Kendall puts her bedsheet in the hamper after her nightly bath (don't you love how she manages to keep her modesty when being photographed in the buff?). It took awhile, but she got it in on her own time.

Kendall takes her cues from Sanford

Whenever Kendall senses that she is going to get her milk or something to eat, she promptly takes a seat on the floor, patiently waiting.


Whenever we get ice from the refrigerator's ice maker, Sanford responds to the sound and comes running because he knows we will toss him a couple of cubes to chew...he loves them.


Now Kendall has decided that whenever she hears the sound of the ice machine she is also going to come running. She promptly takes a seat in front of the fridge. It's funny to see them both sitting on the floor looking up expectantly for a special "treat".

Here they both await the ice. It really is like she has a big brother, isn't it?

JellyBean in the Limelight

Today was another exciting day for JB. We had another ultrasound this morning and he/she is really loving the camera. Doc says all is well with the little one. I hope you all can see the baby in this photo lying on its back with a profile of the head, torso and leg. His/her head is to left side of the image and his/her bottom is to the right. The spine is at the bottom of the image with knee bent toward stomach. I feel the baby kicking all the time now and if you place your hand on my stomach you can feel it too!

The Masterpiece

Kendall has really gotten into drawing and the like through her school. So I decided to take a leap and purchase her some "washable" markers so she could practice at home. She's always trying to grab a pen out of my hand and get to scribbling, so I figured this was a better way to release her creative energy. Today, I put her in the highchair with several pieces of typing paper taped on it.


So how did it go? See photo below...















Everytime I turned my back, she popped another one in her mouth. Thank God they are non-toxic, but I had better check the label to be sure they aren't made in China. Nope...Easton, PA.

Moving and Talking

Kendall is making great progress with moving and talking. She goes up and down the stairs easily. And she is getting comfortable with getting on and off of her scooter and rocking horse. She used to be scared of them. And she's actually starting to move forwards and not just backwards on the scooter.

She's beginning to really understand lots of things, eventhough she might not say them. For example, if you are reading her a book and ask her to show you the "ball" or the "shoe" she can point to it. But she has really mastered these words: dada, mama, up and apple. If you ask her "Where is Sanford?" she will say "woof-woof".

One of the coolest things is when you ask her "Where is the baby?" She will practically beat her chest to show you that SHE is the baby. And she likes to point to this picture we have framed on the sofa table and beat her chest. She recognizes herself even at two weeks old!

Kendall's 15-month checkup

Kendall's 15-month check-up was on Wednesday (1/7) and she got a clean bill of health on her ears! Doc is pleased with her overall development. She now weighs 23 lbs. 11 oz. (75th percentile) and is 31 inches in length (95th percentile). He's pleased with her motor skills and says we shouldn't be concerned if she doesn't yet have much of a vocabulary.

We are now brushing her two bottom teeth.

Welcome 2009

Happy New Year!

Kendall at 15 months old

Every month or so I capture Kendall with this panda bear to show how much she has grown. She is now 15 months. This is her now and how she looked at 4 months.
